American flight makes emergency landing at DFW

An American Airlines flight from Newark, N.J., to Dallas made an emergency landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport after a warning light in the cockpit indicated the rear slide might have deployed.
The plane landed safely around 11:30 a.m. Thursday with fire trucks standing by as a precaution. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the flight crew looked through a peephole in the back of the plane and could not tell whether there was a problem.
DFW home prices up modestly month over month

Area and U.S. home prices were up modestly in May compared with a year ago, according to the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller index, but an economist said it could be several more months before prices improve enough to affect the economy.
Dallas-Fort Worth home prices rose 2.9 percent in May, the seventh month of gains compared with a year earlier, according to the closely watched index, released Tuesday. On average, home prices were up 4.6 percent in the 20 U.S. metropolitan areas recorded in the index.
Fort Worth: 2010 All Schools Liturgy

To mark the close of the Fort Worth Diocese’s 40th Anniversary year and to celebrate the opening of the new school year, more than 6000 students from 19 diocesan schools will gather for a special Mass of the Holy Spirit in an All Schools Liturgy. Bishop Kevin Vann will preside.
This special liturgy is for all students in grades one through 12 and will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this celebration.
Rainy evenings on tap through Thursday in DFW

Rainy afternoons and evenings are in the forecast through Thursday in North Texas, and some areas might see damaging winds and lightning, according to the National Weather Service.
A low pressure system in the upper atmosphere is conspiring with abundant moisture at the surface to create the rain chances, said Joe Harris, meteorologist with the weather service office in Fort Worth.
DFW Airport Applauds DOT Approval of Anti-Trust Immunity

DFW International Airport today applauded the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for approving the joint application of the oneworld® alliance for anti-trust immunity. The oneworld® applicants, comprised of American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia Airlines, Finnair, and Royal Jordanian Airlines, were granted approval by the European Commission last week.
DFW to Host ESPN Super Bowl Broadcasts

ESPN will headquarter its Super Bowl XLV coverage in downtown Fort Worth.
The announcement was made amidst cheers and applause during a Wednesday morning news conference in the city.
Having beat out Dallas and Arlington, Fort Worth is excited about the big win, which will likely bring thousands of people to downtown to see ESPN’s live broadcasts.

A Rick’s unit, RCI Entertainment (Fort Worth) Inc. has acquired Jaguar’s Gold Club from Lakewood, Colo.-based VCG Holding Corp.
Nonstop Jet Service Between DFW and Cheyenne, Wyo.

American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, today began twice-daily, nonstop jet service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Cheyenne Regional Airport (CYS), using 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 jet aircraft.
“American Eagle is pleased to introduce service to Wyoming’s state capital from our largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth,” said Gary Foss, Vice President – Planning and Marketing for the AA Regional Network. “This new route is the result of a unique business partnership between American and the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the Cheyenne community, and we are grateful for their vision and support.”
DFW International Airport selects SKIDATA

The Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airports current parking control system will be replaced by a SKIDATA solution to manage more than 40,000 parking spaces for air travelers and airport employees. SKIDATA was awarded the contract with the DFW Airport Board based on its experience in centrally-managed large-scale PARCS (Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems). SKIDATA has extended worldwide experience in large airport parking management as well as multi-site installations and is therefore the optimal partner for this project.
