DFW welcomes final flight of troops

Every day for eight years, volunteers with the Welcome Home A Hero program greeted incoming troops here. Today was the final arriving flight for the program, and so many people showed up to welcome home troops that it was hard to not step on toes.

Only a narrow path was open for soldiers and Marines to slip through to waiting buses. “I love it!” said Amanda Gamez, coming home after seven months in Kuwait with E1111 Aviation Battalion. She was grinning big as she rushed for a bus.

Hiring in DFW should be healthy, Manpower

The hiring pace for the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the second quarter should be a healthy one, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

The company interviewed more than 140 employers in the DFW area and found that 14 percent of them plan to hire employees in the next quarter. That’s down from the first-quarter number of 20 percent. That’s comparable to ManpowerGroup’s findings statewide, where 19 percent of employers plan to hire during the April to June period.
