Zoës Kitchen opens seventh DFW location

Zoës Kitchen has opened its seventh Dallas-Fort Worth location in the Village at Fairview.
It is the 14th Texas and the Birmingham, Ala.-based fast-casual restaurant chain, whose president and CEO is based in Plano. The company has made Texas a priority for growth, even hinting at the possibility of a regional office in the area.
Zoës also hired a Dallas-based vice president of marketing, Rachel Phillips-Luther.
Woman arrested at DFW after getting on plane with gun

Temp plummet as cold front blows into DFW

North Texans will need their jackets today and Wednesday. A cold front that moved through North Texas this morning has dropped temperatures as much as 20 degrees in some areas of this region.
Just after midnight, the temperature was 65 degrees at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the official reporting site. At 7:45 a.m., it was 44 degrees at the airport.
1 Killed in Fort Worth Shooting

A man was fatally shot inside a Fort Worth business on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 3:15 p.m. inside the Rivers Tree Service at 4650 White Settlement Road.
According to Fort Worth Police Officer Clifton Miller, a man in his early 60s walked into the business and fatally shot another man. The unidentified victim was described as being between 30 and 40 years old.
DFW lakes benefit from this week’s rain

The latest round of rain gave a boost to lakes that are vital to the region’s water supply. The Tarrant Regional Water District, which supplies raw water to about 98 percent of Tarrant County, said the district’s capacity is now 72 percent, up from a low of 67 percent in late November. More >
Fort Worth Man Caught Dragging Dog

A Fort Worth man is facing animal cruelty charges after undercover cops caught him allegedly dragging a leashed dog next to his car.
According to a police report, the officers in an unmarked vehicle were patrolling near Avenue I and Thrall Street around 4 p.m. Thursday. They spotted 35-year-old Anthony Brown struggling with a leashed pit bull-type dog.
Police said Brown tried to get the uncooperative dog inside his car. They said he eventually got into the front seat while still holding onto the dog’s leash. He started to drive away, dragging the dog outside the car, police said.
North Texas rain expected to continue into Tuesday

Waterlogged North Texas who made it through the morning rush can expect more of the same during the evening and on Tuesday as widespread showers move east throughout the region.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to pop up throughout the afternoon and through Tuesday morning, according to Eric Martello, a National Weather Service meteorologist in the Fort Worth office.
Average DFW rent posts biggest annual jump

DFW Airport looking into new policy favoring

Officials at DFW Airport are looking into a new policy that could affect taxicab drivers who use compressed natural gas. The star telegram says those vehicles could skip to the front of the line at the airport if the board approves the new policy today. Airport officials tried to enforce the policy back in 2009, but legal challenges stopped it. They say the policy is designed to help reduce emissions at DFW. Currently, there are 137 taxicabs using CNG operating at the airport.
DFW Airport policy would favor CNG-fueled taxis

Taxicabs that use compressed natural gas could skip to the front of the line at DFW Airport if the airport board approves a new policy Thursday.
Airport officials first attempted to enforce the policy in 2009. But legal challenges from a group of taxicab drivers halted it.
Just 137 out of some 2,000 taxicabs licensed to operate at the airport use CNG, airport spokesman David Magaña said. The airport says the policy aims to help reduce emissions at DFW.
