The woman and another man took the shooting victim to the hospital, but pulled into a gas station at Ayers and Rosedale to call an ambulance, police said.

Davis is expected to begin construction in late 2012 on The Sovereign, a 322-unit luxury apartment development. This will be the company’s fourth multifamily development in DFW.

Venture Commercial represented Hillwood Communities in the sale. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. Venture’s Ken Reimer and David Davidson Jr. are also marketing 23 acres of land surrounding this development.

“The availability of multifamily land in the Alliance Corridor is slim to none, and demand is extremely high,” Davidson said.

Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP’s managing directors Mike Tepedino and John Bourret and associate director Michael Gigliotti, all in New York, represented the borrowers. HFF will service the adjustable rate loan.

The hotel, located at 4545 W. John Carpenter Freeway, boasts 38,000 square feet of meeting space and a 10,541-square-foot ballroom in addition to business and fitness centers, restaurant with bar and outdoor heated pool. The hotel was renovated in 2007.

The arches were put into place Monday as part of the 364-foot bridge. The span is expected to provide a link between Trinity Park and downtown Fort Worth.

The span is named for late community activist Phyllis Tilley.

This was Marshall Artho’s sixth year to play in the tournament, but for him it was more than just a game.

“Just giving back makes you feel good, especially knowing someone who has been through it,” Artho said. “Maybe it’s playing golf but it’s all for a good cause.”

Artho took off work Monday and took part in Woody’s Golf Tournament to support his friend, John Hinkle, and a cause that means a lot to him.  “My wife had breast cancer for about eight years before she passed away,” Hinkle said. “She was 28 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she passed away when she was 36.”

Hinkle’s wife, Donna, died in 2007.  The couple’s daughter Gabrielle was only one.

“We talk about her, and she sees pictures and videos and stuff like that,” Hinkle said, “and we try to keep her memory alive with her.”

Investigators said the man told the teller he had a gun but never showed it. Police said they consider the man armed and dangerous.

The man was described as between 35 and 40 years old and between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall with short blond hair and glasses.

“We put taxpayers dollars into health care for our employees,” Mayor Betsy Price said. “Anything that might benefit the health and wealth, make our employees more productive and healthy we’re going to take a look at.”

A city employee proposed the idea, but some fellow colleagues are fuming.

“I kind of see it as a form of discrimination, because as long as you’re not smoking at the job and it doesn’t affect your job, I kind of think it as unfair to choose,” said Irene Jasoni, a city employee.

Puffing away adds up over time for employers across the nation. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, smoking and secondhand smoke cost $193 billion in health bills and lost productivity every year.

In North Texas, tobacco-free hiring initiatives are already in place at the Baylor Health Care System.

Angela Gatewood, a smoker and future city job seeker, said she is worried the idea could become policy.

“The simple fact that they smoke is not at a reason for them to keep someone from working for them,” she said.

Some smokers, such as Jerry Stemmons, said a new rule would not change their ways.

“I am so late in my career, I don’t care,” he said.

There are several hurdles involving the city’s legal and human resources departments that must be crossed before the proposal could be implemented.

Investigators believe he was a homeless man who was staying in the trailer with the restaurant owners’ permission. Crews quickly doused the flames on the trailer and notified the medical examiner. The restaurant building was not damaged.

The Original Mud Run DFW, with two obstacle courses through water and mud, took place Saturday in Fort Worth. Family and friends reported Weathers missing when he did not show up following the end of the competition.
