DFW Connector project ahead of schedule

There’s progress for commuters stuck in the gridlock between Dallas and Fort Worth. Officials with the DFW Connector project say workers are nine months ahead of schedule. The project is the convergence of highways 114 and 121 running through Grapevine west of DFW Airport.
The project is 65% complete and expected to be nearly done by the end of the year. When complete, the billion-dollar project should reduce traffic congestion.

Fort Worth Gets $3 Million To Clean Up

Fort Worth is getting $3 million to help test for dangerous lead-based paint in low-income housing. The money is coming from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban development.
HUD says even though lead-based paint was banned in residences in 1978, there are still about 24 million U.S. homes which have the paint.

Storms Drop Several Inches of Rain on DFW

Tuesday is the first day of spring, so its fitting that the sun is shining just hours after severe thunderstorms dropped 3-to-4 inches of rain across the Metroplex. So, just how much rain fell over the last 24 hours?
Preliminary rainfall totals show 4.37 inches at Dallas Executive Airport while only 3.57 inches fell at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. At Fort Worth Meacham, 3.22 inches fell while 3.94 inches fell in Arlington. In McKinney, 4.33 inches were recorded.

Rainbow Lounge Raid Documentary Premieres

Nearly three years after a police raid at a Fort Worth gay bar, a new documentary is bringing the incident back into the spotlight. The documentary ‘Raid at the Rainbow Lounge’ premieres tonight in Sundance Square.
In 2009, officers from the Fort Worth Police Department, there without their supervisors’ knowledge, and agents with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) converged on the Rainbow Lounge and began making arrests.
DFW welcomes final flight of troops

Every day for eight years, volunteers with the Welcome Home A Hero program greeted incoming troops here. Today was the final arriving flight for the program, and so many people showed up to welcome home troops that it was hard to not step on toes.
Only a narrow path was open for soldiers and Marines to slip through to waiting buses. “I love it!” said Amanda Gamez, coming home after seven months in Kuwait with E1111 Aviation Battalion. She was grinning big as she rushed for a bus.
